245/365 Tiny and Fierce
V stepped out back for something and let me know there were geckos outside. I found my camera and went out and all had fled but this one. He was awesome, charging anything that came too near. After I got my shots we went back in and I couldn't help but imagine that he was very pleased with himself that he stood up to the giants and they were the ones who retreated.

And despite spending most of the day miserable and in bed, I also got this shot. I love the colors, something I'd never have noticed if I hadn't bothered to do more than look down at the mushroom that was growing from the crack.

143/365 So strange, and kind of fascinating.
L ran out the door this morning as we were ready to leave and promptly found the body of a snake. He did the right thing even though it didn't have a head, he stopped, backed up, and came and got us. It was the oddest thing, and I don't get why it was in our yard since it didn't appear to be done by an animal. I'll never have the answer. Poor snake.
Edited to add: My sister commented on Flickr and said she thinks it's the tail of a legless lizard (Eastern Glass Lizard??) and not from a snake at all. Apparently they lose their tail when attacked to escape predators. Very cool!

135/365 A visit to the country
My sister wasn't home, but the boys wanted to go pet the dogs, so off we went to Molino. We were out at the time and I did not bother to go home to get the good camera, though I wish I had. One day I'll learn to just start taking it everywhere.
Soft, soft Gabby

Climbing Rose

Pesky rooster who freaked the boys out by running at and following them around. My sister says he is accustomed to being fed by hand and probably wasn't being aggressive, just needy.

Prickly Pear cactus bloom.

32/365 Photos Fails
Behind the houses across the street is Locklin Lake. It's not very impressive as lakes go, in fact it's probably the smallest lake I've ever seen, but it comes with all the inhabitants you'd expect in a living body of water and that's pretty cool.
Early this morning we had visitors from the lake and I grabbed my camera and proceeded to totally messed up what could have been a great shot of one of the ducks lifting in flight

then got the focus wrong on this picture of the other little guy perched on my carport and checking me out from behind the tree.

This pretty much sums up my day.

30/365 Gulfarium

January and half-price for locals was quickly running out so today we went despite the chill in the air. We grabbed a half-price yearly membership, saw a few displays, caught one show, and then we were so frozen we were done. Next time we go the day will be warmer and the good camera will be in hand.

Playing Catch-up 15-19/365
19/365 Today my "OMG, this can't be real. Me, pregnant?!" miracle baby turned 6.

18/365 25 years of marriage today! We stopped at a park to let the kids run around and squirrels kept jumping on the van. It was a bit unsettling to hear their little claws as they moved around the outside of the vehicle, yet we couldn't stop laughing.

16/365 Part of the fun of going somewhere new is eating new places and trying something different. This is an eggplant crab cake sandwich with shrimp over pasta from the Magnolia Blossom Cafe in Robertsdale, AL. Not bad!

15/365 This is the day we headed off for some much deserved us time. Before the trip could start I wanted a clean car, which meant a trip to Ronny's
