241/365 Imagination

L's unicorn has had quite a day. It traveled to a neighboring town and back, it took a nap along the way causing everyone in the car to speak in whispers, and once awake it needed to use the bathroom. It used a piece of paper in the car, which L carefully folded at the corners to keep the rainbow colored mess from getting on anything. Once home he took paper from my printer and made a place on the floor for future such needs.

My SIL's hospice vigil ended this morning around 3 am. We were back and forth a couple of times today, once with kids and once without. Long story there that I don't have the energy to share. Tomorrow more back and forth, plus boy #1 goes to the dr, and cat #1 goes to the vet. Somewhere in there V will need to sleep because tomorrow night he will be working 12 hours. There is boy #2 to get to and from school, as well. If I am not as present as normal tomorrow you now know why.

Not writing all of that to complain, just to remember. I read one of my older journals recently and it was amazing how much I recalled from a few written words. I hope I can get back to that.

I should be asleep.

240/365 Worn Down

The rain just seems unending. I hate the heat but I need the sun. I'm a big bear when I don't have enough of it, and lately, definitely not enough.

Rainy Day at West Florida Hospital

Made a food delivery to SIL and MIL, ran other errands, and Vaughn got some house projects done. Heard from an old friend/former SIL about a surgery she's about to have.

Tired.

239/365 End of the week

Dr. visit confirmed strep, again, for the youngest. He felt a lot better today despite the scary looking throat, so that is good. Oldest was awesome this afternoon when we were out and, seeing a woman struggling with a door and an umbrella, ran over and held the door for her until she got things fixed. So sweet!

We were supposed to start helping move SIL today but that didn't happen. Waiting for her to let us know when she is ready.

My Cuties

238/365 A very long day

Spent much of it at hospice sitting with my SIL so she wouldn't be alone as she watches someone she loves die. Came home after MIL arrived and got the boys off the bus. L began mentally breaking down the moment he was home. When he wasn't crying he shared he'd almost fallen asleep on the bus. Fever was 101.8, throat was swollen and nasty red.

Picture of the day is this.

Hospital Food

My SIL told me to lift the cover and see what lunch was. It was for her, he is beyond eating now and doesn't wake. The "field peas" amused me and she laughed a little laugh and told me to go ahead and take a picture of it. Family knows me well. After snapping that I made a run to Whataburger for her and MIL, getting them what wanted.

The day was hot and miserably humid and given to rain, but we went to the splash pad anyway, and they had a blast.

Looking up I spied him as I walked to the car. He was having a standoff with a spider, which I found interesting, but it was just too hot to stick around see how it played out.

Late Afternoon
Tuesday August 10, 2010

221/365 Moody Monday

I didn't feel to good most of today but that doesn't mean the entire day was a loss. I enjoyed the 2/3 hours I spent locked away in the bedroom reading, the late afternoon sun streaming in the windows to keep me company. V was home today and he kept the boys occupied and on the go, and I did venture out a little myself.

220/365 Doughnuts

Yesterday was a feverish boy so sick all he could do was be miserable, while today was like yesterday never happened. That being the case it was time to get out of the house for a bit. First stop was Krispy Kreme for a treat, and after that they begged to go to the park and so we went, though I knew they wouldn't last in the heat. 5 minutes tops and they wanted to head back to the car, another example of it being easier to let them see for themselves than argue. We hit Target, then they wanted to try another park and so we did, with the same result. After that we were all ready to go home.

Today's yum.

I love lamps. I own a couple from each of my grandmother's homes, and this is part of one of them. The original shade is still in good shape, which is amazing considering how old it is.

Long, tiring day. L has been sick, though no fever today and plenty of fights with his brother. When there is enough energy to fight things are looking up. :)

We took an early evening trip to the Riverwalk and let the kids run around Veteran's Memorial Plaza. If the day had been a cool one it would have been perfect.

Ready for winter.

212/365 End of the Month

There were a lot of pictures taken, but not by me. Some that I took of me were too goofy for words so won't appear here, and that leaves these unremarkable shots of a couple of plants in the front bed.

Caladium

The Caladium was purchased by me, but planted by my mother. She's rather, uh, territorial about the yard. Anyway, I bought them thinking the white would stand out among everything else in the bed, picturing them scattered among the rest. She had a different vision and planted them in a straight line right along the walk to the front door.

The Persian Shield is a second planting. The one we had last year we lost to the unusually cold winter. I like the purple so had to have another.
